Melanie is a theatre director and writer (biography). As a writer-director, she often works in close collaboration with expert advisors and individuals from outside the arts to develop unique theatre projects. Some of her current ventures are as follows:
MARY SHELLEY'S 'FRANKENSTEIN'
A sparse, contemporary reimagining of literature's definitive horror novel - starring Mary Shelley. In development with Headlong .
A play about language set within Britain’s Polish. Made in consultation with Polish contributors aged 19 to 86 now living in the Midlands and beyond. Commission from Royal & Derngate and HighTide. For production at Royal & Derngate.
A play about elite swimmers in the run up to the Olympic games. Expert advisors include Olympian and Commonwealth gold medallist Caitlin McClatchey, elite coach Milton Nelms and pre-eminent sports scientist Professor Greg Whyte. In development with support from Royal Court, Wellcome Trust, Peggy Ramsay Foundation and Made By Brick. In development and for co-production with ETT (English Touring Theatre).
